So for those of you who have not heard of Print Mockups let me explain what is a mock up. A mockup is a blank image of a product that you then add your image to i.e. a mug mockup would show an image of a white mug to which you would add your design to.
For the purposes of selling prints Print Mockups show a blank frame to which you would then add your print, like so :
Why are Print Mockups a great idea?
For the purposes of selling prints Print Mockups are an amazing idea because they allow you to create a product image very quickly without having to spend hours photographing your art in a frame – which can be a very tricky endeavour at times. Be aware not all selling platforms allow mockups however I do use them all the time as they save a lot of time and also mean that the colours of the print are fairly represented by the product image.
How do you use frame Print Mockups?
Print Mockups are super easy to use most of the time. My biggest tip is to get ones that include a png file (with a transparent background) so you can easily slot your image in. Alternatively ones that utilise a smart object are the best. These types of frame Print Mockups work by you opening up the smart object and pasting your print image into it and saving it. The frame image then magically shows your print image in situ. Smart object frame Print Mockups are my favourite to use as this type of frame typically includes accurate shading etc making the image look super real!

Another note about Print Mockups – I would advise you use the ones that are created from actual real photos rather than digitally created. The latter look fake 99% of the time and to my mind don’t give a good impression. Real photo Print Mockups look much more realistic and natural.
Where can you get frame Print Mockups from?
I buy most of my frame Print Mockups on etsy as there is a massive selection to choose from and I find that these are the best quality and most appropriate (and look the most classy!) You can also buy frame Print Mockups and mockup bundles from Designbundles, some of which are excellent value 🙂
There are also plenty of free frame Print Mockups however some are better than others and be aware free Print Mockups will look less individual and are often not great quality.
So as far as Print Mockups go I think that’s it but please feel free to drop me a message below or in the facebook group if you have any further questions or if there is something I haven’t covered!
